If you have a vintage bike and you are looking to put a different fork on it or the threads are rough enough that it isn't easy to adjust the headset, Park Tool offers the FTS-1 Fork Threading Set. It's designed for cutting new threads or chasing existing threads on steerer tubes. The only caveat is that the fork isn't chromed, as the cutting tool will cause the chrome to flake. The FTS-1 comes with a 1-inch adjustable cutting die made from high-quality steel for precision cutting and a long life. The guide system used with the FTS-1 has cut out reliefs matching the die that allows shavings to fall out of the tool while cutting preventing damage to the threads and the tool. 1-1/8 and 1-1/4-inch dies and guides are available separately if you are looking to restore that vintage mountain bike.
